Mustafa Humayun has served as Partner at Sagard and as Portfolio Manager of Sagard Credit since 2016. Mustafa is responsible for overseeing the private credit business to invest in non-sponsored credit opportunities in the North American middle market. Alongside Adam Vigna, the firm’s Chief Investment Officer, he leads the Sagard Credit team in their management of the investment process, including origination, due diligence, execution, and portfolio management. Within the investment portfolio, he serves as a board observer at Founders Advantage Capital. Mustafa is a member of the Sagard Credit investment committee and is based in Toronto, Canada. He has known Adam Vigna for over a decade and has worked with him across three different organizations.
Prior to Sagard, Mustafa was a Managing Director at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (“CPPIB”) where he led multiple sector teams across North and South America. Before that, Mustafa was an Investment Professional in the Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs in New York where he invested across the capital structure across a number of different sectors. Mustafa has previously served on the boards of Laricina Energy, Queen’s University Investment Council, and LongPoint Minerals.
Mustafa holds a B.Comm. from Queen’s University and is currently a member of its task force for EDII reform. He currently serves on the Board of TO Live, an entity that manages Toronto’s most iconic theatres, and was previously on the board of New York Needs You and Youth Empowering Parents.
